I was going to delete my blog . . .

I have not posted for some time because I was going to delete my blog. I have so many different vehicles of expression and communication, I thought, "Do I really need a blog? Does anyone even read it?" and then people started reading it and posting annoying comments about me needing to update. So in a nutshell, OK ALREADY!

School has started back up, and I am already looking towards summer. Here in NC the weather is a chilly 26 degrees, and snow is being swept across my driveway by 31 mph winds. They canceled school. Life is good.

Obama will be sworn in today, and I wonder what the next four years will hold for all of us. All I have heard so far is how historical his presidency will be, and his likeness to JFK. What I keep waiting to hear is how he will be a good president, what changes he want to make for the betterment of the country and how he plans to do that without sending us all into a deeper depression. I have three more students, all registering a week and a half late - laid-off from Hatteras. What will Obama do to help these students?

I know for sure that my job as an educator is secure though. With so many closures and lay-offs, non-traditional as well as traditional students are flocking to community colleges and universities by the hundreds. Craven CC just enrolled 3010 students! Tiny CC and yet, supporting a population over 3000 - times are a'changin' my grandma would say.
