freedom's price tag

Now Amazon is giving 2.5 million in support of gay marriages. Is it about the issue or about selling stuff? I cannot say. Everyone should be able to voice their opinions and offer funds of support; It is a "free" country, right? Or is it? It seems to be that there is an invisible price tag for every issue. Fine, you want to protest against or support an issue, do it with your words and not your wallets. Make your ideas heard without purchasing the audience.

Even love has a price tag. My friends have been following my forays into the dating world since my split with Logan, and the first thing they want to know is "what does he (the new guy) do for a living?" Honestly, I just stopped asking. I know it is odd, but the whole "how much money do you make" never comes into play with me and a possible love interest. He can have tons of money, a plan, a sporty car, and still be as empty inside as a hollow cavern. Money is not everything, or even half of everything. I realize that as a society we are taught that money is the happiness maker, but I know this to be untrue.

I guess my point is that there should be more to having convictions than dollar signs and zeros. If you know in your heart that something is right, to you, then you should grow a pair and make some changes. Make a difference and put the checkbook away. Think with your heart.
