The heart makes you do silly things . . .

I wanted to spend some time with Ben, and I had Labor Day off, so I decided to fly to Blacksburg, VA on a whim on Friday afternoon. I thought, "I can stay 2 full days and catch the flight on Monday."

So, I met Ben and our friend Von, at the airport in Roanoke. After a light dinner at Abuelo's, we watched the Salem Red Sox defeat the Lynchburg Hillcats. It was a beautiful night where the moon was full and a trace of Fall was in the air.

Saturday was a day to lounge around and do nothing. We did find time to meet our friend, Darin, for lunch at Red Lobster.

Sunday morning we watched Joel Olsteen, who is an amazing orator and positive thinker. I love his "a better you." Then we decided to get out of the house and see the "new" Harry Potter flick at the Lyric Theatre. It was good, but we were not sure it was the best of the Potter films. The theatre is an old performance theatre, and the whole experience was very charming.

Monday he had to teach and because I ended up staying, I too worked all day on my classes. We played some WoW and had dinner at a great Thai restaurant downtown.

Tuesday came, up at 4am, to the airport by 5:15am, flight at 6:05am. And then a 13 1/2 hour wait in the Atlanta airport. Marines came back from overseas, and the airlines accommodated them - understandably. Even so, there I sat all day, arm in sling, no working wi-fi, dead cell phone, no book and "easy" crosswords.

It was 3 of the best days ever!
