Another piece of personal history passes . . .

I was in such a hurry to get to class this morning that I did not have time to start the computer. Leighton, one of my students, told me that Patrick Swayze had died! I could not believe it. I knew he had been battling pancreatic cancer, but I just thought he would beat it. As the class and I discussed his legacy, Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Road House, Too Wong Fu, I thought about how another little piece of my own history had slipped away. I remembered watching Dirty Dancing with my friends, dreaming we would all be able to marry Patrick and have beautiful children and dance every day - blissfully.
