Republicans throw tantrum over abortion issues. Again!

I hate reading the news sometimes. It just makes me want to slap some people around.

New York Times
With no intention to consider raising taxes to increase revenue, the Republicans are determined to cut back social programs linked to Democratic Party policies, in education, energy and health care. Few of those programs are as odious to conservative hard-liners as Planned Parenthood, which they see as an abortion machine being fed by the federal Treasury.

Seizing an opportunity to appeal to their base, conservative Republicans marked Planned Parenthood for extinction during the budget debates. They won the vote in the House of Representatives last week but lost on Saturday in the Democrat-run Senate.
But the battle is not over — not by a long shot.

In the run-up to the votes in Congress, prominent Republicans lost no opportunity to demonize Planned Parenthood. Representative Michele Bachmann, the Minnesota Republican who is a likely presidential aspirant, described Planned Parenthood as “the LensCrafters of big abortion,” referring to the international retailer of prescription eyewear.

Planned Parenthood is in the abortion business?!!!!

First, cut funding, again, to education, energy and health care? Seriously. What is wrong with these people? So we will be a nation of stupid, sick, dirty people who are doubling the population per minute because no one knows how to prepare teens and even young adults for the responsibility of having sex. Have any of these Republicans even visited a Planned Parenthood? It is NOT an abortion mill. It is a place that teaches about the risks and responsibilities of having sex. They try to help prevent unwanted pregnancies. It isn't like they have a "choose-your-option-drive-through-window." Where would people go then? Parents? That's not working. Counselors? Again. not working. Oh wait, they are going to make abstinence a law and sex against the law. Let's just make laws that further restrict the rights of individuals!

Second, who voted for Michele Bachmann? Someone should explain metaphor to her. Planned Parenthood and LensCrafters? Really? Maybe instead of all the hype about birthing, which I could care less about at the moment, someone should consider aptitude or intelligence tests as precursors to allowing people to seek candidacy. Planned Parenthood is not a business. They do not market a product. They do offer services, counseling, education and guidance. What really bugs Ms. Bachmann? The fact that real women want to have control over their own bodies or that sexual activity among teens is on the rise, and there is nothing she can do about it? Either way, take away the Planned Parenthood, and you will see an increase in debauched abortions, an increase in unwanted births, higher rates of sexually transmitted diseases and more money to those on welfare programs. One decision will affect more than just that one organization. Has anyone really put any thought into this idea?

Doing away with Planned Parenthood is not the answer. Follow their lead, Ms. Bachmann, Republicans and the Tea Party. Educate the populace. Pass out contraceptives instead of thinking a ten minute speech to "not have sex" is going to work outside of the school. Stop trying to control the people. Let us make the decisions. Stop threatening to cut funding to needed programs if you do not get your way. You are all too old for temper tantrums. Man up - all of you and fix the problem - don't make it worse!
