Sucked into reality TV

Scotty McCreery
I have never seen an episode of American Idol. I was living and teaching overseas and never really cared too much about the hottest new talent. In fact, I am not into watching TV as a general rule. We do not turn on the TV in this house except for weekends to play some Wii or watch a Redbox movie.

Well Jeff, my moderate-going-to-take-over-the-world, bff, LOVES Idol. He says that it is not some soap opera, but a great show where deserving people get a chance to shine. He told me everyone's back story and his favorites. So, I decided to watch the whole season up to the current show.

There are some great performers. In the top 7 now, I like Haley, Scotty and James. I'm hooked. I will have to watch the episodes on my computer and ask Jeff to not spill the beans, if he can.

Now I am not going to start watching TV because I still feel it is a bit of a waste to the mind. Plus, I would rather have my 9-year-old emulate great men like Jeff, than I would some teen from Big Time Rush.

Still, sometimes you do something that someone you love asks you to do just because he asks. Now there is something else we can chat about, debate and chastise each other.

A little dose of reality never hurts.
